This article explains how to configure your OnePlan group for Microsoft Project Professional/Desktop. When users publish their MS Project schedules to OnePlan, data is mapped between the two tools according the the Field Mappings. This requires the Project Professional app be installed.
Go to the Admin pages, select Project Professional in the navigation.
Admin Settings
When the Project Professional app is installed in OnePlan, some fields may already be mapped. You may add more mappings or delete mappings as needed.
Add Mapping
Click the [+] icon to add another field mapping. Complete the mapping form. When project schedules are published to OnePlan, they are mostly read-only. Yet, team members can update the status of their work via the My Work page, and then the Project Manager can pull the updates back into their MS Project schedule.
- Microsoft Project Field: Select a field.
- OnePlan Field: Select a task-level field. If needed, you may add more task-level fields on the Fields settings (see Create and edit fields).
- Direction: Select which direction the data maps - either MS Project to OnePlan, OnePlan to MS Project, or Both.
NOTE: When a choice field from OnePlan is mapped to a text field in Project, the OnePlan publisher will convert the text field to a lookup type and auto-populate the available choices from OnePlan to that text field (Along with the choices GUID) during connection.
This is because choice values are uniquely stored by GUID in OnePlan and can only be set based on its GUID. On publish to OnePlan, this is the only way to translate them from Project, and set the correct choice value in OnePlan.
Project Desktop and OnePlan Timesheets
If you are using OnePlan timesheets with Microsoft Project, the % Complete mapping direction must be set to MS Project to OnePlan.
By default, the % Complete mapping direction is set to Both, and a 0 % Complete will remove any OnePlan timesheet hours that are imported into Project.
To update the % Complete mapping to work correctly with Project:
- Delete the default % Complete mapping.
- Click the New Mapping icon (+).
- Complete the Add Mapping form as follows:
- Microsoft Project Field: % Complete
- OnePlan Field: % Done
- Direction: MS Project to OnePlan
- Click ADD. The new mapping is now configured.
